For most companies who generate waste cardboard through their production or distribution processes there are several options for disposal.
Landfill
Firstly there is landfill, extremely costly and definitely not environmentally friendly. Not recommended!!
Waste paper company
Secondly and certainly the most popular route is through a waste paper company. Provided there is sufficient volume they will supply a waste cardboard skip to collect loose cardboard but will probably charge for the service. At best this process will generate a very small financial return although it is environmentally friendly.
Paper mill
It is possible to sell waste cardboard directly to a paper mill but it requires investment of tens of thousands of pounds in a baler that will produced bales to a weight and size acceptable to a paper mill. This process will generate an improved financial return but the investment required negates any potential profit. Another environmentally friendly disposal route but costly in terms of investment.
Used carton recycling
This is the ultimate disposal route. This process will generate a substantial financial return (much higher than baled waste) that is guaranteed, requires little or no financial investment and is one of the best examples of recycling there is today.
